Online learning is a convenient way of learning

Online learning is a convenient way of learning.  However, online/e-learning requires preparation and discpline.

Just as you would when attending a facilitated classroom learning process you will need to apply the following to your e-learning environment.

Be self-disciplined!

Be tech-savvy or improve your tech-'savvyness'

Apply good planing and time management techniques

Your planning should be in place before you register for the e-learning method.

Your time management will include you completing your assignments before or by semester end date (due date).

Create a dedicated learning space.

If you are learning via a blended process including a virtual classroom you will need to fully commit yourself to the virtual classroom.

Invest in a pair of headphones (no disturbances).

Participate and interact with the facilitator and others students as though you are in the classroom.

Have reliable internet access when completing your assignments. (Remember to click on the SAVE icon)

Don’t leave the assignment open (unattended) – always save and log off – even for a cup of coffee to to take a telephone call.

If you do not understand the e-learning system process, knowledge material content or assignment questions always contact the e-learning tutor for assistance and guidedance.

Outcomes based learning tips:

Always read through the unit standard assessment plan before you commence working through the knowledge material and assignments.

If you do not understand the assignment questions, refer back to the assessment plan and the unit standard specific outcomes and assessment criterion as the questions are designed to meet the outcomes of the assessment criterion.

If the assignment question requires research – always reference your research evidence in your assignment answers.

Do not copy your assignment answers from the knowledge material or directly from the internet.

Stay motivated – reward yourself on competency achievement.
